Sulfate Fertilization Preserves Tomato Fruit Nutritional Quality

Sulfur is an essential mineral in human nutrition, involved vital biochemical processes. deficient soil becoming a severe issue, resulting from increased agricultural production and decreased sulfur emissions. Tomato cultivation using sulfur-poor soils desalinated water widespread, might result plant fruit deficiency. In the current work, we aimed at evaluating effect of fertilization (0.1–4 mM) on concentrations, under both low (4 high (11 nitrogen fertilization, to assess biofortification, alongside composition, tomato plants. The experiment was performed semi-commercial scale, during two seasons, with real-life range. We evaluated elemental addition young (diagnostic) leaves, as indication nutritional status. Our results show no harmful treatment growth yield. Increased fertilization-sulfur exclusively induced accumulation fruit, while increasing fertilization-nitrogen subsequently nitrogen. treatments resulted consistent negative molybdenum calcium, well positive sodium levels. At same time, other minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, remained unaltered by treatments. Leaf response trends generally adhered those fruit. Taken together, our findings suggest that can biofortify retaining composition quality, excluding decrease Molybdenum levels, assure food security maintain vegetables significant source minerals.
